‘Urban expansion and agricultural land use change in Ghana: Implications for peri-urban farmer household food security in Wa Municipality’

Food price hikes globally re-energised investment in innovative strategies of food production including urban and peri-urban agriculture. Unfortunately, uncontrolled urbanisation have impacted gravely on areas developing countries. This study was conducted the Wa Municipalityto examine how agricultural land use change impact security farmers. A mixed methods inquiry with 235 smallholder farmers were used for study. Questionnaires, interviews historical information captured using Geographic Information System (GIS) to collect data. The results revealed that, hectares over last three decades has drastically lost its space development through residentuial infrastructural development. also found that resulted insecurity as majority unable meet their needs decade. practical policy implication are discussed.
